Myth vs Reality

Myth

You need a Nobel Prize.

Reality

You qualify by meeting at least three of eight criteria, not by winning the single top award in your field.

Myth

It is only for celebrities.

Reality

Founders, researchers, engineers, athletes, and artists are approved every year. Most are not household names.

Myth

You have to be famous.

Reality

You need documented recognition in your field, not fame. Press, awards, and a critical role all count.

Myth

You need a U.S. degree.

Reality

The O-1 has no degree requirement at all. Your record matters, not your diploma.

Myth

There is a lottery like the H-1B.

Reality

No lottery and no annual cap. You file when your evidence is ready, not when a computer picks you.

Myth

You must prove everything alone.

Reality

A U.S. employer or agent files for you, and an attorney builds the evidence with you.

Who Actually Qualifies

Most people who qualify for the O-1 assume they are not good enough. They usually are. See if you recognize yourself.

The founder tired of the H-1B lottery

You built a company, raised capital, or led a team. You are done gambling on a visa lottery every spring. The O-1 does not make you roll the dice.

The researcher whose work is cited everywhere

Your papers get cited, you review others' work, your name is in your field. Your visa should not be the thing forcing you to leave.

The athlete or coach with a real record

You have rankings, press, and awards. Recognition at the top of your sport is exactly what the O-1 was written for.

The artist or performer with reviews and awards

Your work has been reviewed, exhibited, credited, or awarded. The O-1B is the track built for the arts and for film and TV.

How This Works

Step 1

Free eligibility check

Answer a few questions. About 60 seconds. No pitch, no payment, no obligation. You find out where you stand before anyone calls you.

Step 2

Attorney match

If you qualify, we match you with an immigration attorney who files O-1 petitions every week. We are the bridge, not the lawyer.

Step 3

Evidence and filing

The attorney builds your evidence across the criteria and files the petition with your U.S. employer or agent.

The Real Cost of Getting This Wrong

Waiting

Your current status has a clock. Your recognition sits undocumented and opportunities pass. The evidence is easier to assemble now than after a gap.

A weak petition

A thin or do-it-yourself petition invites a request for evidence or a denial. Doing it right the first time is faster and cheaper than fixing a rejection.

The wrong attorney

A lawyer who files one O-1 a year is not the same as one who files them every week. The match matters as much as the visa.

What You Can Count On

The check is free and honest

No card, no call required to find out. You learn if you likely qualify in about 60 seconds. If you do not, we tell you straight.

We have no stake in the outcome

We do not file your case, so when we say you have a real shot, there is nothing in it for us but the truth. We only get it right by matching you with the attorney who can win it.

Questions People Ask Before They Start

What does "extraordinary ability" actually mean?+

It means documented recognition in your field. For most people that means meeting at least three of the eight USCIS criteria, not winning a single top award.

Do I need a Nobel Prize or a major award?+

No. A one-time major international award is one route, but almost everyone qualifies through the three-of-eight criteria instead.

What are the eight criteria?+

Awards, membership in selective associations, press or media about you, judging others' work, original contributions, scholarly or published articles, a critical role at distinguished organizations, and high salary. You need at least three.

Do I need a U.S. employer or sponsor?+

You need a U.S. employer or an agent to file the petition. If you do not have one, the attorney can often structure an agent arrangement. That is part of what the call is for.

Do I need a degree?+

No. The O-1 has no degree requirement. Your record of achievement is what matters.

Is there a lottery or an annual cap?+

No. Unlike the H-1B, the O-1 has no lottery and no annual cap. You file when your evidence is ready.

How much does an O-1 cost?+

It varies by case. Attorney fees are commonly around $5,000 to $8,000, and total costs can run higher with government fees and premium processing. The attorney quotes you directly.

How long does it take?+

Many petitions are prepared in a few weeks. With premium processing, USCIS issues a decision within 15 business days.

What is the difference between O-1A and O-1B?+

O-1A covers sciences, education, business, and athletics. O-1B covers the arts and the motion picture and TV industry. The quiz routes you to the right track.

Is the O-1 the same as a green card?+

No. The O-1 is a temporary work visa filed by an employer or agent and it renews. A green card like the EB-1A is separate. Many people start on the O-1 and pursue a green card later.

What does IAVRS actually do?+

We are not a law firm. We check if you likely qualify and connect you with a vetted immigration attorney. The legal work is theirs.

What happens after I hit submit?+

If you likely qualify, you go straight to a page where you pick a time to speak with the attorney's office. No payment and no pitch.

You Already Did the Extraordinary Part. Now Document It.

You built the work, earned the recognition, made the contribution. The O-1 is the visa written for exactly that. Take about 60 seconds and find out if it fits you.

Free. About 60 seconds. No pitch.
